Gen Z Slang Words and What They Mean (2026)
Slang moves fast, and most lists online are a year behind. This one is sorted by how you are likely to run into the word: in a group chat, in a comment section, or from a kid at the dinner table who is clearly testing you.
Each word comes with a plain definition and a sentence showing how people actually use it. Words that are mostly used as insults or that are too crude for a family site are left out.

How to use slang without sounding like a parent
Use one slang word per sentence, not four. "This pizza is bussin" works. "No cap, this pizza is bussin fr, it's giving Italy" sounds like an ad.
Do not explain the joke. If you use "cooked" and someone laughs, move on.
Some words have a short life. "On fleek" and "yeet" were everywhere a few years ago and now mostly appear in parodies of adults. If a word has reached a cereal box or a bank commercial, it is probably on its way out.
